January 2008

January started off the year with great enthusiasm as the club was visited by representatives of the republican presidential candidates.  See the Presidential Candidates Page for more information and contact links.

Former State Senator and political columnist Leanna Brown moderated the evening and provided humorous insight to each of candidate reps. The event was well attended by club members, guests, and the general public.

February 2008

Township Administrator, Richard Sheola, visited with the club and discussed the town budget. He described how the current administration is working to maintain fiscal discipline and keep our taxes low!

March 2008

Long Hill Board of Education President Sue Becker and Vice President John McCarthy visited with the club to present the school budget. The discussed the priorities the school board has set and how difficult it was to come to the number being put up for a vote on April 15th. They encouraged everyone to get  involved with the schools.

April 2008

Jersey Joe Pennacchio visited with the club to discuss his candidacy for US Senate. Joe gave a brief overview of his experience as a freeholder in Morris County, state assemblymen, and state senator. May 2008

The department of fish and wildlife presented a very informative session on Black Bears in New Jersey.  Over 30 residents came out to hear the presentation and much was learned by all in attendance.

June 2008

2 speakers visited the club in June to provide members information on the soon to be released township website and gun safety.  Dorsey Harrington presented the club with a wealth of knowledge about gun safety and some NJ regulations about the permit process. Mike Smargiassi presented the new town website and show some of the new feature that will be available when the site launches later this year.
